Houston IoT Meetup

April 1, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This session is a collaboration between the Houston IoT / “Internet of Things” and the Hackster Hardware Houston meetups, and is the first big session on IoT WANs as the coverage of the IoT technology space continues to grow. We will focus on the ATT IoT Starter Kit and supporting services, as this is the best “complete” set of IoT WAN capability available for developers now. (We have plans to cover other IoT WAN technologies soon.) Why IoT WANs? “IoT in the home, office and town will increase comfort, prosperity and security — but IoT WANs will change the world!” (Mike Hinkle).

Register to Attend

This session is intended for developers, inventors and makers with at least basic IoT and programming skills. Planned topics include:

  • hardware setup and configuration (Mike Hinkle)
  • ATT service setup and configuration (Mike Hinkle)
  • programming with ATT Flow (Julio Rodriguez)
  • using ATT M2X messaging services (Travis L. Teague)
  • using MQTT (open source) messaging services (Pierce Primm)
  • real examples and demos, using platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel Edison and NXP K64F Freedom Board.

(Note: this session is presented independently from ATT, and is not a commercial presentation for ATT products or services.)

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Park in street parking (if not blocked by special event), or in Green Street Garage (we will have vouchers for discounted parking fees). Enter Station Houston on the Polk St. side, and take the elevator to the 24th floor. There will be signs to Station Houston from there, and the large conference room.

What can I bring into the event?
Attendees are encouraged to bring a notebook computer. WiFi will be available at the event. Firearms are prohibited at Station Houston.
